Acne is a skin condition that causes spots. Acne usually affects the skin of the face, back, neck, chest and arms and it can be severalty varies by person. The processes that cause acne is exactly the same in people with all skin colors but the impact of acne can be worse if you have darker skin. There is a range of treatment options to help treat acne. As acne can't be cured, treatments aim to control the symptoms by following methods:
• To prevent new spots forming
• To improving those already present
• To preventing scarring

It's important to keep spot-prone areas clean, so wash the affected area twice a day with an unperfumed cleanser. The skin needs a certain amount of oil to maintain its natural condition, so it's best to use gentle soaps and not to scrub your skin too hard when washing. There are a number of medicines available from pharmacies to treat mild acne. These usually contain antibacterial agents such as benzoyl per oxide. As well as its antibacterial effects, benzoyl peroxide can dry out the skin and encourage it to shed the surface layer of dead skin. Together, these effects make it harder for pores to become blocked and for infection to develop.

Benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and peeling, this tends to settle down if you reduce the number of times you use it. Home treatments for acne won't work immediately. It can take few months. If home treatments haven't worked or you have severe acne, you should visit your doctor for further treatment. Your doctor may start your treatment by prescribing a preparation containing benzoyl peroxide and can suggest some creams or lotions that your can rub on to your skin, or as tablets. Creams and lotions are only effective where and when they are applied so you should apply these daily to all areas of your skin that are prone to acne.

Nutrition is the food you eat and how the body uses it. We eat food to live, to grow, to keep healt hy and well, and to get energy for work and play. Healthy eating is fundamental to good health and is a key element in healthy human development, from the prenatal and early childhood years to later life stages. Healthy eating is equally important in reducing the risk of many chronic diseases. Healthy eating patterns are a result of skills and strategies for managing all types of food. Knowing the nutritional values of some basic foods can help you learn which foods provide too much or too little of the nutrients that concern you.

Micronutrients, literally meaning “small nutrients,” refer to the vitamins and minerals that are essential for metabolic processes in our bodies. They are needed in minute amounts compared to macronutrients and do not provide energy in the form of calories. Carbohydrates, proteins and fats are all important macronutrients for our bodies. Because they are the main sources of fuel for the body, it is important to eat a balanced die t that contains all three nutrients. In addition to protein, fat and carbohydrate, our bodies need vitamins and minerals to function properly. Exercise also plays a key component in our general well being and health and therefore warrants integration within our lifestyle. The aim of this clinic is to provide physiological screening to people who participate in physical activity for health rather than for best sport training.

The aims of such support are to:
• Maximize awareness of healthy living and improve fitness of clients.
• Provide dietary analysis and make recommendations on existing diet if required.
• Advise on appropriate exercise prescription to achieve fitness goals.
Support for such a framework can be undertaken via individual consultancy or group-based workshops. Knowing the basics of physical activity is important to prevent injuries and maximize the health benefits of exercise.

Diet Pill Scams: An In Depth Analysis

Fat burners have become very popular in today's society, especially in America. It seems that everyone is looking for a "quick fix" to their problem...and that is why they, therefore, turn to those "awesome" fat burners where you can just pop a pill and "lose 30 pounds in 10 days!"

However, do these fat burners actually work? Do they actually provide any benefits? Do the $40-$100 price tags justify their benefits? Here we will investigate some of the claims that they make such as:

-increased thermogenesis
-decreased appetite
-weight loss without exercising
-increased energy

However, before I go into any more detail about fat burners, you must understand two important concepts:

Total Daily Energy Expenditure and The Law of Thermodynamics (don't worry -they're quite simple).

Everyone has a set number known as "Total Daily Energy Expenditure" or TDEE for short. Your TDEE is how many calories yo ur body uses per day to keep itself going. Pretty much everyone's TDEE is different, and it changes everyday depending upon how much work your body does that day or if you gained more muscle mass, etc... This number can be affected by such things as genetics, how much muscle mass you have, what you do during the day, etc.

You can get a rough estimate of you TDEE at Weight Loss TDEE Calculator

Once you understand TDEE, there is another simple concept to understand. This concept is known as The First Law of Thermodynamics (don't worry - our application of it is simple). This law states:

1. If you eat more calories than your TDEE, you gain weight (this weight can be muscle or fat or a number of other things, but that's for another article)

2. If you eat less calories than your TDEE, you lose weight (once again, this can really be anything)

3. If you eat the same amount of calories as your TDEE, your weight stays t he same

So, in order to lose fat, you must create some sort of calorie deficit between your TDEE and the number of calories you eat. However, the deficit cannot be too large - otherwise your body will go into starvation mode. For more information on this topic you can check out www.burn-the-fat-feed-the-muscle.com.

Back to fat burners.

--Increased Thermogenesis

Thermogenesis is essentially a fancy word for TDEE. Saying that a product will increase thermogenesis is like saying it will increase your TDEE - which would mean that you burn more calories per day. Many of the products in these fat burner's will increase your rate of calorie expenditure, but not by very much - the results are minimal.

Here's an example: A while back I saw an ad touting that their "green tea extract" increased thermogenesis by 4%. Sounds spiffy, eh? Now, let's take a somewhat normal number for TDEE - 2000 calories/day. 4% of 2000 would be 80 calories per day. If a pound of fat is 3500 calories, this means that you could get rid of an extra pound of fat about every 44 days by taking this supplement!

This small deficit could be easily accomplished many other ways though. For instance, you could eat 10 less wheat thins for a day, or not add mayonnaise to your sandwich at lunch, or just replace soft drinks with water.

Decreased Appetite

When trying to diet (actually, just achieve a calorie deficit), many times people complain that their appetite is holding them back - therefore companies that produce fat burners like to claim that their product "reduces appetite".

It's true, many ingredients in products may reduce your appetite. But do you really need these special herbs or ingredients to do that?

In my opinion, nature provides everything. Here are some strategies:

1. Drink water. It's simple, if you get some sort of craving for some thing, just drink some water. This will help to decrease your appetite by filling up your stomach, it's natural, and you need water to function properly anyway.

2. Eat fiber. You can either eat foods with fiber in them, like vegetables, or you can just buy some of that powdered fiber at the store (it actually doesn't taste that bad), and take some with your meals. Fiber cannot be digested, so it will decrease the actual capacity for your stomach to hold food. Plus fiber pushes food through your digestive tract faster than normal. This can cause roughly 15%-20% of the food you eat to not be digested - resulting in a smaller amount of calories that your body actually digests. Fiber also provides too many other benefits to list here.

3. Eat foods that are low in calories, but high in satiety. These are foods that have a low amount of calories per amount of food that you eat. For instance, a stomach full of jello contains less calories than a stomach fu ll of peanut butter.

Weight Loss Without Exercise

It's possible to lose some fat without exercising. However, when you do this, you're setting yourself up for failure in the long run. Muscle is an integral part of permanent fat loss. When you cut calories without lifting weights or exercising, part of the weight you lose will be muscle as well as fat. When you add weight lifting/exercise to your routine, you essentially signal your body to keep your muscle. For more information on this topic of "weight loss and weight lifting", check out our free 7-day fat loss e-course. The second lesson involves the effects of weight lifting on fat. So, in essence, you can lose weight without exercising - but it's kind of a waste of time.

Increased Energy & Focus

Many fat burner's contain ingredients like caffeine or vinpocetine, which they claim to help increase your energy and focus. In many cases, some (a rare few might I add) of these compounds can and have been proven to do this - but (this is from personal experience) mostly by a minimal amount. Probably the best way to gain focus and energy is the way nature intended - through exercise. Ever gotten that endorphin high after a great workout? You'll be surprised at how "high" you get and at how clearly you can think.

Weight Loss & Water Loss

Due to some of the ingredients in fat burners, they can make you lose weight - but not necessarily the correct type of weight. Some ingredients such as caffeine can be classified as mild diuretics. This can be deceiving, as the weight that you may have lost from the "fat" burning supplement may not be fat at all, it may just be water.

So, all in all, fat burning supplements do provide some benefits - that is, if the ingredients actually DO support their claims. However, many times, even though they do provide benefits, the benefits are many times small compared to what can be a ccomplished through intelligent dieting and exercising. It is up to the buyer whether the price tags justify the benefits that these supplements may provide.

Ayurvedic Tongue Analysis – Part 3

If the tongue is covered by a thick coating, it may indicate the presence of toxins in the stomach, small intestine or large intestine. If the posterior part of the tongue is coated, it will indicate that toxins are present in the large intestine. If the middle of the tongue is coated white, the toxins are present in the stomach and in the small intestine.

A pale tongue may indicate an anemic condition or lack of blood in the body. A yellowish coating on the tongue may suggest that excess bile present in the gallbladder or a possible liver disorder. A blue tongue is normally an indication of a heart condition. A whitish tongue indicates Kapha imbalance and mucus accumulation. A red or yellow green tongue indicated a Pitta imbalance. A vata imbalance is manifested by a black to brown coloration on the tongue.

"Periodic detoxification, a pure diet and daily use of a tongue scraper helps to rid digestive toxins accumulated on the tongue," suggests Dr. Lad. It also massages the entire body in a sense such that it enlivens the circulation and lymphatic systems. Nobody wants a furry tongue and bad breath. Removing the superficial layer of coating and bacteria resting on the tongue lowers the risk of tooth decay, throat infections, bad breath and heart disease, gum disease, according to modern research. It won't, however, alter the appearance of deep pathological tongue indications.

A healthy tongue should look a kitten's tongue, it is symmetrically and evenly pink. It is neither too thick nor too thin and oval in shape. When sticking out it's naturally straight rather than curving to one side. It should remain still, not trembling, flaccid, flat-tipped or stiff. It should have a thin transparent coating coloring the tongue pink. All the taste buds are flat, orderly and is free from strawberry looking bumps, deep cuts, lines, cracks and patches. It should not have foam, hair, fur, be too dry or too wet or have a foul odor or taste. As massage therapists, it's helpful to know how to detect spinal imbalances such as scoliosis, lordosis or kyphosis just be examining the tongue. When the line in the middle of the tongue is curved or bent to one side when they stick it out, it is an indication of scoliosis. A crack in the front of the tongue near the tip on the right side would be an indication that the client has pain in their right shoulder blade. The same goes for the other side. When the line is very deep and nearly split apart, it can be an indication of deep spinal pain or deep sorrow that is being stored in the spine.

Hormones in Milk Part 1

There is good evidence that until 9,000 years ago in the Middle East 1 and 7,000 years ago in Northern Europe,2 people did not consume non-human milk or dairy products.

On an evolutionary time scale, non-human milk consumption is a newcomer to the human diet, and most of our genome was selected in the Paleolithic environment 3 in Africa.4-17

By using the evolutionary template, and knowing that milk is species specific, we would expect this new habit to have unintended consequences, which go far beyond lactose intolerance.  Since only a minor percentage of the world's population continues to consume milk into adulthood,18 lactose intolerance is actually very common.  Even those people with Adult Lactase Persistence may experience adverse effects by consuming dairy products.  This is because "genes important for early reproductive success are conserved through the process of natural selection, despite potentially detrimental effects subs equent to their early and/or continued expression in later life."19

There are several lines of evidence that raise concerns with milk and dairy intake, but we will only focus on some of the hormonal effects of milk consumption.

From a physiological standpoint, milk is 20 "a unique biological secretion of the mammary gland endowed by nature to fulfil the entire nutritional needs of the neonate." Milk's main purpose is to be the sole food of infant mammals during the most accelerated growth period in postnatal development when endogenous production of hormones is low! 20

In addition to proteins, fats, lactose, vitamins and minerals, milk contains various growth-stimulating steroid and peptide hormones as well as catalysts, transporters and stabilizers that ensure their maximum bioactivity.21

Here's a short list of some hormones tha t are present in cow's milk (the most widely use milk in the USA and Europe)20 that could be problematic for humans.

Potentially Problematic Hormones

Insulin

IGF-1

Betacellulin (BTC)

Estrogens (particularly Estrone Sulfate)

Precursors of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)

Whats a good Diet Pill

It cannot be denied that the Hoodia Gordonii phenomenon is an interesting one.

With its P57 miracle molecule having only been discovered in the last decade and its clinical trials having only just finished a few years ago; the productivity of this unique appetite suppressant has been incredible.

Even as we are writing this, if you type 'Hoodia Gordonii' into Google, you will find an assortment of different Hoodia products all saying 'buy me, buy me.' Capsules, tablets, patches, coffee, tea, candy, lollipops and shakes… these are just a handful of the growing number of Hoodia Gordonii products.

You see, in a scramble to take advantage of all Hoodia Gordonii's remarkable results, manufacturers have literally merged Hoodia Gordonii into about anything they could get their hands on.

But here is the thing.

Where is the proof that come shake or patch these products will still be able to effectively supp ress your diet? And for that matter how can you be certain that you are achieving the 2,250-3,000mg of Hoodia Gordonii that you need (a day) to effectively suppress your appetite?

The truth is you can not be certain.

Mixed in with a multitude of other ingredients and chemicals, you can not guarantee that you are receiving the full amount.

Take for example this scenario.

A company is claiming that in one of their Hoodia Lollipops there is 400mg of Hoodia Gordonii.

Okay this statement is fair enough, but here lies in the problem. To make sure that you receive the full amount, you need to eat the whole lollipop (not exactly productive against weight loss). Then there is the uncertainty over whether or not the other ingredients have affected its ability to encourage natural appetite suppression.

Now, if tablet and extract forms of this supplement are not recommended, and altering where it is grown affe cts its strength, then surely introducing other ingredients to its formula, must make them more unreliable?

We know, this is only speculation, but it does make you wonder about the credibility of these lollipops, patches and teas. How can you confidently say you are going to achieve your desired results?

Saying this, there is one proven point that does have standing with this supplement.

The fact that according to Alkemist Pharmaceuticals over 80% of Hoodia Gordonii supplements are fake.

Either made from the wrong type of Hoodia plant (there are 13 types altogether with only Hoodia Gordonii having been proven to contain P57) or from the whole plant (making it only 60% effective), the pure scale of this problem, combined with the fact that it is so rare, makes all these other Hoodia products appear questionable.

Who can you rely on it give you real results?

Our recommendation is that you go for a Ho odia Gordonii supplement that can prove it contains only pure, unaltered Hoodia Gordonii.

A capsule that has been: laboratory tested by Alkemist Pharmaceuticals to prove it contains pure Hoodia Gordonii; that has got the CITES certificate to prove its origin and a capsule that contains at least 400mg of genuine Hoodia Gordonii (taken from the core of the plant).

One Hoodia Gordonii supplement we would recommend is UniqueHoodia. Tried, tested and backed by leading health officials, UniqueHoodia has got the certificates to prove it is the genuine article.

In one concise product, consumers can benefit from:

• 100% pure, unaltered Hoodia Gordonii
• Calorie reductions of 2,000 calories a day
• 10,000 times more productive at reducing your appetite than glucose

And with a CITES certificate, an Organics Annex Certificate and a Certificate of Analysis, you can feel confident that when you do take Un iqueHoodia you are experiencing pure, unaltered Hoodia Gordonii.

While looking for the best Hoodia diet pill, you may have found many Hoodia Gordonii supplements. But how do you know which one is effective? How do you know which one is the right one for you?

I will here recommend you one Hoodia Gordonii weight loss supplement that is currently turning the weight loss world upside down. The diet pill I am talking about is called UniqueHoodia. It has some outstanding appetite suppressant properties:

460mg of Hoodia Gordonii per pill – most of other Hoodia supplements contain 400mg or less per pill, which might not be enough for your daily needs. UniqueHoodia goes above & beyond in this case.

It uses only pure & unaltered Hoodia Gordonii imported directly from South Africa. Most of other Hoodia supplements on the market use Hoodia extract, which is not the same thing!

It has all the required certification – CITES, Certificate of Analysis and Organics Annex Certificate. All these cert ificates prove that UniqueHoodia is genuine product with real Hoodia Gordonii in it. It also proves that manufacturers did obtain license to import Hoodia Gordonii from South Africa.

90 pills per box – Most of other Hoodia supplements come with 60 pills per box.

Two doctor endorsements – These are endorsements from real doctors that actually examined UniqueHoodia and approved it. Not many Hoodia supplements have proper doctor endorsements or they have fake endorsements.

180 days money back guarantee – This is really a big one. With this big money back guarantee, you cannot go wrong if you choose this weight loss supplement. This is totally risk-free investment for you!

No side effects – That's right, with UniqueHoodia you will not experience any negative side effects; it will not make your heart race for no reason, it will not make you jittery and it will not affect your mood in any way.
